The Big 12 is a perfect example, I do not know a single Mountaineer who cares about playing any of our conference brethren. Playing unranked UConn in October or traveling to Lubbock to watch your team lose to unranked Texas Tech feels like a weekly low tier bowl game, it has nothing to gain from it and the uniform match up just feels wrong. After 1-2 matchups these games become so underwhelming that it’s hard to get excited if neither team is highly ranked. In their place we gained “intriguing” match ups that had little to no history and very seldom and geographic relevance.
